WHY THE SEA OF MARMARA?

The Marmara Sea is the world’s largest energy storage field and stores, energy under seven factors, the best of which is the marine currents, which continues to flow in opposite directions for six months, starting from the Mediterranean Sea to the Sea of Marmara across the Dardanelles Strait. The energy is taken reversal of the Marmara Islands and then through the Bosphorus to the Black Sea, then flows back through the Bosphorus Strait and the energy is taken back in the energy field of Princess Islands to the Sea of Marmara and continues to flow for another six months through the Dardanelles to the Mediterranean as a full course during the year.

The vision of Turkey for the year 2023, the year of the centennial of the Republic, aims to achieve the objectives of the energy sector in Turkey, which include the following:
1. Increase the total existing capacity to 120 GW.
2. Increase the share of renewable energy to 30 percent.
3. Maximize the use of hydroelectric power.
